How To: Designing An FPGA Based Graphics Controller For HD

— by

By way of EE Times, here’s a lengthy, if not highly informative nitty-gritty on designing an HD FPGA graphics controller.

“Using faster memories and embedded hardware blocks let us to design more complex and more powerful designs – designs which just a year or so ago would have been hard to implement without using specialized ICs.
With a lot of free logic resources remaining, it looks like our next step may be to implement a soft processor core. Also, some GUI libraries for popular microcontrollers (STM32, TI) can be used requiring some simple drivers to use this graphics controller.”

What do you guys think?  Let us know in comments.  Personally, I think this is pretty cool.
