Hackaday’s got an interesting article up about using a MIDI controller keyboard as a typing input device. This is a very different way to type called ASETNIOP which is a newer system of chorded typing. ASETNIOP was originally developed for touchscreen devices, and is a system of typing where your fingers never have to leave their “home” positions. This can apparently be adapted (by way of a clever little hack) to a MIDI controller – check out the video to see just what the heck I’m spillin’ about.
I’m not sure that I’d actually want to learn to type like this, but it might be interesting to fool around with – if only to hear the insane soundtrack that I’m creating while I type. I wonder which words actually sound musical (as opposed to dissonant) as they’re typed by using this method. Definitely unusual, and we like unusual.
